Global Urea Fertilizer Prices in Q3 2025 Higher Than Last Year

According to World Bank data, the average price of urea fertilizer in the global market in Q3 or July-September 2025 fluctuated above the US$450 per ton.

Its price was higher compared to Q3 last year, when fluctuations were still below US$350 per ton.

As of September 2025, the average global urea fertilizer price reached US$461 per ton.

Although down compared to the previous month, that price was still about 37% higher compared to September last year (year-on-year).

Amidst this upward trend, the Indonesian government lowered the price of subsidized urea fertilizer.

The regulation is stipulated in Minister of Agriculture Decree Number 1117/Kpts./SR.310/M/10/2025, which takes effect starting October 22, 2025.

The decree states that the highest retail price (HRP) for all types of subsidized fertilizers in Indonesia is reduced by 20%, with the following details: 

• Urea fertilizer: reduced from Rp2,250 to Rp1,800 per kilogram
• NPK fertilizer: reduced from Rp2,300 to Rp1,840 per kilogram
• Cocoa NPK fertilizer: reduced from Rp3,300 to Rp2,640 per kilogram
• ZA fertilizer for sugarcane: reduced from Rp1,700 to Rp1,360 per kilogram
• Organic fertilizer: reduced from Rp800 to Rp640 per kilogram

"We are revitalizing the fertilizer sector because fertilizer is the lifeblood of agriculture. Without fertilizer, we cannot produce," said Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman in a press release, Wednesday (October 22, 2025).

"This is a swift government measure to help farmers, increase food production, and ensure there is no longer a shortage of fertilizer in the field," he stated.
