PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) reported a net profit of Rp13.69 trillion in the third quarter of 2022. This achievement surged 76.87% year-on-year (yoy).
This profit growth was supported by interest income of Rp39.27 trillion, up 4.66% yoy. In addition, interest expense grew by 2.83% yoy to Rp9.07 trillion. As a result, the state-owned bank's net interest income increased by 5.22% yoy to Rp30.19 trillion.
Another contributor to the company's profit growth was seen in other operating income. The recovery of written-off assets increased by 72.28% yoy to Rp2.86 trillion. This achievement, among other factors, enabled the state-owned enterprise (SOE) bank to record other operating income of Rp13.88 trillion, up 16.93% yoy.
The profit was also supported by credit growth of 9.1% yoy to Rp622.61 trillion in the third quarter of 2022. "It is expected that high-quality credit exposure will have a positive impact on credit quality in the long term," said BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar, as quoted by Katadata.co.id on Monday (October 24).
The trend shows that BNI's net profit has been increasing over the past five years. The highest net profit for BBNI in the third quarter was achieved in 2022, while the lowest was in 2020.
