According to a Populix survey titled *Unveiling Indonesia’s Financial Evolution: Fintech Lending and Paylater Adoption*, Akulaku is the most widely used online lending (pinjol) application among Indonesian consumers.
Forty-six percent of respondents reported using the Akulaku application.
Kredivo ranked second, used by 43% of respondents. EasyCash and AdaKami occupied third and fourth place with 18% each.
Thirteen percent of respondents used Shopee's Spinjam application.
"Spinjam secured fifth place in fintech lending brand usage, possibly due to its connection with e-commerce activities," Populix stated in its report.
Furthermore, 12% of respondents used Findaya, followed by users of the Indodana (11%), Mekar (4%), Investree (3%), Danacita (2%), and Amartha (2%) online lending applications.
The Populix survey also found that the majority of online lending app users borrow less than once a month (66%), followed by once a month (21%), and two to three times a month (13%).
In terms of value, the majority, or 66%, of respondents borrowed less than Rp1 million, followed by Rp2 million-Rp3 million (24%), Rp3 million-Rp4 million (5%), Rp4 million-Rp5 million (3%), and over Rp5 million (3%).
This survey was conducted from September 15-18, 2023, involving 420 respondents who use online lending applications from a total of 1,017 respondents representing the entire Indonesian demographic. The respondents were predominantly female (51%), with males comprising 49%.
The majority of respondents were from Java (79%), followed by Sumatra (12%), and other islands (9%). Respondents were aged 17-55 years, dominated by the 17-25 age group (55%), followed by the 26-35 age group (31%).
The respondents included employees (56%), students (21%), entrepreneurs (11%), housewives (6%), and others (6%).
