Banyuwangi Forest Area: 28,134 Hectares

The agricultural, forestry, hunting, and fishing sectors dominate the employment landscape in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java. 287,800 people, or 33% of Banyuwangi's total population of 870,200, work in these sectors.

Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries also contribute the largest share to the Regional Gross Domestic Product (RGDP) by sector, accounting for 31.2% in 2018. According to *Banyuwangi dalam Angka 2019* (Banyuwangi in Figures 2019) released by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the regency has four forest functions. These consist of 9,159.72 hectares (ha) of production forest, 16,988.85 ha of protection forest, 549.89 ha of other use areas, and 1,435.8 ha of protected forest.

The total forest area in Banyuwangi is 28,134.26 ha. BPS also recorded a forest fire in Banyuwangi that consumed 139.8 ha of forest area.
