Recent 4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Bima Region

A 4.5 magnitude (M) earthquake struck Bima. The epicenter was at sea. "The earthquake's epicenter was 66 km northeast of Bima at sea, and this earthquake is felt and should be relayed to the public," wrote BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website, April 11, 2023.

The earthquake occurred at 16:18:00. It was located at a depth of 31 kilometers and did not have the potential to cause a tsunami. Meanwhile, the earthquake's coordinates were 7.85°S (South Latitude) and 118.77°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the MMI scale in the Bima region with an intensity of III and III. An MMI scale of III means the earthquake was felt by several people but did not cause damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed, and glass windows vibrated.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded eight significant earthquakes felt by the public in Indonesia over the past week, with varying magnitudes and depths.
