Earthquake Today, April 26, 2023, Strikes Calang

A recent earthquake measuring 4.7 magnitude struck Calang on April 26, 2023. According to a release from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake's epicenter was located on land, approximately 15 kilometers northwest of Calang.

"Earthquake felt, Magnitude: 4.7 on April 26, 2023, 02:56:27," BMKG wrote in its release. The earthquake occurred at coordinates 4.77°N (North Latitude) and 95.56°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the MMI scale in several areas, including Besar and Aceh, with intensities of II and II respectively. An MMI scale of II means the earthquake was not felt by most people or was felt only by a few, but was recorded by instruments.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded seven significant earthquakes felt by the public across Indonesia in the past week, varying in magnitude and depth.
