Jakarta's Education Budget is the Highest in Indonesia

Jakarta, the Special Capital Region of Indonesia, allocates the highest education budget in the country, amounting to Rp 11.57 trillion, or 18.17 percent of the total Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD). This province is the only region with a budget approaching the 20 percent mandated in Article 49 of Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the education system.

Aceh is the second highest allocating province. This region, nicknamed the "Veranda of Mecca," allocates 8.9 percent or Rp 1.13 trillion of its total APBD to education spending. South Kalimantan ranks third with an allocation of 8.33 percent, or Rp 437 billion, from a total APBD of Rp 5.2 trillion.

According to the Ministry of Education and Culture, these education budget statistics already account for funds transferred from the central government to the regions. These funds cover expenditures for teachers, students, and school facilities and infrastructure.
