West Sumatra Food Price Update Today: Chili Prices Up, Onion Prices Down (Friday, January 5, 2024)

The prices of several food commodities in West Sumatra today are observed to have increased compared to yesterday.

Citing data from the National Food Agency (Bapanas) food price panel on Friday (5/1/2024) at 08.43 WIB, out of 20 commodities, 10 commodities increased and 10 commodities decreased in price.

Commodities that increased in price include garlic bulbs, bulk wheat flour, red chilies, iodized fine salt, and medium-grain rice.

Meanwhile, the prices of several commodities such as farmer-level corn, broiler chicken meat, granulated sugar, mackerel, and broiler chicken eggs decreased compared to yesterday's prices.

Red chili prices surged the highest, increasing by Rp28.110 (67.1%) to Rp70.000 per kg. Meanwhile, mackerel prices decreased the most, dropping by Rp30.360 (64.89%) to Rp16.430 per kg.
