1,839 Hotspots Detected in Indonesia in the Last 24 Hours (Sunday, August 24, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring over the last 24 hours shows that 1,839 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots increased by 506 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of satellite imagery from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA, accessed on Sunday (August 24, 2025) at 11:31 AM WIB. Of the 1,839 detected hotspots, 35 points have a high hotspot confidence level, 1,761 points are at a moderate scale, and 43 points are at a low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. A low scale has a range of 0 - 29, a moderate scale 30 - 79, and a high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The highest number of detected hotspots was in West Kalimantan, with 1,224 points. East Nusa Tenggara ranked second with 139 hotspots. North Sumatra was in third place with 111 hotspots.

As many as 50 hotspots were detected in East Java, followed by West Nusa Tenggara with 50 hotspots, and Aceh and Bangka Belitung Islands each having 46 and 40 detected hotspots.

Hotspots are coordinate points of an area that have a higher surface temperature compared to their surroundings, and do not represent the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of hotspots clustered in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data detected by remote sensing satellites is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a large area.
