Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in the Aru Islands Decreased by 4.89% in the Last 5 Years

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in the Aru Islands Regency, Maluku, was 31.68% in 2023.

This figure is down 2.06% from the previous year's 33.74%, and down 4.89% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in the Aru Islands Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes insufficient food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that in the Aru Islands Regency, the percentage of the population whose food consumption does not meet their energy needs does not reach 31.68% of the total population.
