Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Bogor Decreased by 1.73% in the Last Year

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Bogor Regency, West Java, reached 5.3% in 2023.

This figure is down 1.73% from the previous year's 7.03%, while it has increased by 2.4% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Bogor Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the percentage of residents in Bogor Regency who consume food but lack sufficient energy intake is less than 5.3% of the total population.

Compared to 26 other regencies/cities in West Java Province, Bogor Regency ranks 11th in terms of PoU. The areas with the lowest PoU (top ranking) are Depok City (1.99%) and the highest (bottom ranking) is Tasikmalaya Regency (8.65%).
