Ministry of Environment and Forestry Detects 671 Hotspots in Indonesia, Most in East Nusa Tenggara (Saturday, October 25, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours shows that 671 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 146 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Saturday (10/25/2025) at 11.53 AM WIB. Of the 671 detected hotspots, 17 points have a high hotspot confidence level, 515 points are moderate scale, and 139 points are low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale has a range of 0 - 29, moderate scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a certain area.

The most detected hotspots were in East Nusa Tenggara with 356 points. Southeast Sulawesi ranked second with the most hotspots, with 92 points. Maluku was in third place with 81 hotspots.

A total of 43 hotspots were detected in West Nusa Tenggara, followed by South Sulawesi with 31 hotspots, and Central Kalimantan and North Maluku each had 13 and 11 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of hotspots clustered in an an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires for large areas.
