Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again This Morning (Tuesday, April 22, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 09:43 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 30 times.

According to eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed at approximately None meters above the peak or None meters above sea level.

The eruption was not visually observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 31.8 millimeters and a duration of 159 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on April 22, 2025, from 00:00 to 06:00 WITA showed 3 eruption quakes with amplitudes of 14-14.8 millimeters and durations of 100-235 seconds.

Furthermore, there were 14 tremor quakes with amplitudes of 2.2-14.8 millimeters and durations of 28-208 seconds, and 1 local tectonic earthquake with an amplitude of 2.9 millimeters, S-P 3.7 seconds, and a duration of 23 seconds.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to carry out any activities within a 6-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.

During 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 3,125 volcanic eruptions/eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (1,374 eruptions), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 361 times.
