2,609 Hotspots Detected in Indonesia in the Last 24 Hours (Thursday, July 31, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), the last 24-hour monitoring shows that 2,609 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 897 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Thursday (July 31, 2025) at 11:12 AM WIB. Of the 2,609 detected hotspots, 184 points had a high confidence level, 2,366 points had a medium scale, and 59 points had a low scale.

The hotspot confidence level is divided into 3 scales. The low scale ranges from 0 - 29, the medium scale from 30 - 79, and the high scale from 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

Most hotspots were detected in West Kalimantan, with 1,584 points. East Kalimantan ranks second with 267 hotspots. South Kalimantan is in third position with 118 hotspots.

As many as 110 hotspots were detected in Aceh, followed by Central Kalimantan with 68 hotspots, and North Kalimantan and Riau with 58 and 55 detected hotspots respectively.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data detected by remote sensing satellites is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a wide area.
