Warning! Mount Dukono Erupts Again Tonight (Sunday, July 27, 2025)

Mount Dukono in North Maluku erupted again on Sunday (July 27, 2025) at 9:34 PM WIT. In the last week, Mount Dukono has erupted 17 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed to be approximately None meters above the peak or None meters above sea level.

The visual of the eruption was not observed. The eruption of Mount Dukono was still ongoing when this report was made.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Dukono is at Level II (Alert). Seismic observations on July 27, 2025, from 00:00-23:59 WIT showed 185 eruption tremors/earthquakes with amplitudes of 6-34 millimeters and durations of 33.17-191.63 seconds.

Furthermore, there was 1 felt earthquake, scale II MMI with an amplitude of 34 millimeters, S-P unobserved, and a duration of 244.54 seconds, as well as 1 distant tectonic earthquake with an amplitude of 34 millimeters, S-P unobserved, and a duration of 141.55 seconds.

PVMBG urges the public around Mount Dukono and visitors/tourists not to engage in activities, climb, or approach the Malupang Warirang Crater within a 4-kilometer radius.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 5,341 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,144 times), while Mount Dukono erupted 449 times.
