Mount Dukono Erupts Again Tonight (Wednesday, July 30, 2025)

Mount Dukono in North Maluku erupted again on Wednesday (July 30, 2025) at 10:24 PM WIT. In the last week, Mount Dukono has erupted 5 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed to reach None meters above the peak or None meters above sea level.

The visual eruption was not observed. The eruption of Mount Dukono was still ongoing when this report was made.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Dukono is at Level II (Alert). Seismic observations on July 30, 2025, at 00:00-23:59 WIT showed 27 eruption tremors/earthquakes with amplitudes of 6-21 millimeters and earthquake durations of 30.89-81.49 seconds.

Subsequently, 2 distant tectonic earthquakes occurred with amplitudes of 21-34 millimeters, S-P times of 12.15-26.14 seconds, and earthquake durations of 56.82-83.98 seconds, as well as 1 continuous tremor with an amplitude of 2-10 millimeters, dominant at 3 millimeters.

PVMBG urges the public around Mount Dukono and visitors/tourists not to carry out activities, climb, or approach Malupang Warirang Crater within a 4-kilometer radius.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 5,388 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,163 times) while Mount Dukono erupted 454 times.
