Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Sambas Reaches 14.99% in 2025

Quoting data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan reached 14.99% in 2025.

This figure increased by 2.21% from the previous year's 12.78%, while over the last 5 years it has decreased by 6.28%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that the PoU in Sambas Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to observe food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that residents of Sambas Regency who consume food but do not meet their energy needs account for up to 14.99% of the total population.
