Warning! This Morning Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again (Tuesday, September 30, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Tuesday (September 30, 2025) at 09:14 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 15 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) through the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the observed ash column reached 1,000 meters above the peak (2,584 meters above sea level).

The ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity towards the southwest. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 22.2 millimeters and a duration of 220 seconds.

According to MAGMA Indonesia's volcanic activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Seismic observations on September 30, 2025, at 00:00-06:00 WITA showed 4 eruption/explosive earthquakes with amplitudes of 7.4-14.8 millimeters and durations of 80-170 seconds.

Subsequently, there were 7 exhalation earthquakes with amplitudes of 2.2-5.9 millimeters and durations of 31-38 seconds, as well as 3 non-harmonic tremors with amplitudes of 4.4-7.4 millimeters and durations of 69-81 seconds.

PVMBG urges the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to engage in any activities within a 6-kilometer radius from the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 6,463 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java erupted the most (2,535 times), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 658 times.
