MOEF: Number of Hotspots in Indonesia Reaches 1,779 in the Last 24 Hours (Sunday, August 31, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours shows that 1,779 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 596 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Sunday (31/8/2025) at 11:30 AM WIB. Of the 1,779 detected hotspots, 20 points have a high hotspot confidence level, 1,629 points are medium scale, and 130 points are low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale ranges from 0 - 29, medium scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots were in West Kalimantan, with 769 points. East Nusa Tenggara ranked second with 292 hotspots. West Nusa Tenggara was in third place with 226 hotspots.

A total of 106 hotspots were detected in Central Kalimantan, followed by Southeast Sulawesi with 81 hotspots, and South Sulawesi and East Java each had 77 and 65 detected hotspots.

Hotspots are coordinate points in an area that have a higher surface temperature than their surroundings, and do not represent the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective for monitoring forest and land fires over a wide area.
