Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Depok City Decreased by 0.16% in the Last Year

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Depok City, West Java, reached 1.99% in 2023.

This figure is down 0.16% from the previous year's 2.15%, while it has increased by 0.64% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Depok City is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the percentage of Depok City residents consuming food but lacking sufficient energy intake is less than 1.99% of the total population.

Compared to 26 other regencies/cities in West Java Province, Depok City ranks first. The area with the highest PoU (last rank) is Tasikmalaya Regency (8.65%).
