KLHK Detects 933 Hotspots in Indonesia, Most in East Kalimantan (Sunday, October 19, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours shows 933 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 389 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Sunday (October 19, 2025) at 11:53 AM WIB. Of the 933 detected hotspots, 29 points have a high hotspot confidence level, 842 points are at a medium scale, and 62 points are at a low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. The low scale has a range of 0 - 29, the medium scale 30 - 79, and the high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots are in East Kalimantan with 210 points. Central Sulawesi ranks second with the most hotspots, at 129 points. West Nusa Tenggara is in third place with 93 hotspots.

A total of 65 hotspots were detected in Central Kalimantan, followed by North Kalimantan with 55 hotspots, and South Sulawesi and East Java each having 54 and 45 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point in an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective for monitoring forest and land fires over a wide area.
