KLHK: Number of Hotspots in Indonesia Reaches 85 in the Last 24 Hours (Saturday, January 10, 2026)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours showed 85 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots increased by 22 compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Saturday (10/1/2026) at 11:36 AM WIB. Of the 85 detected hotspots, 2 had a high confidence level, 80 were moderate, and 3 were low.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. The low scale ranges from 0 - 29, the moderate scale from 30 - 79, and the high scale from 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The highest number of detected hotspots was in North Maluku with 41 points. Central Sulawesi was in second place with 16 hotspots. Southeast Sulawesi was in third place with 7 hotspots.

A total of 6 hotspots were detected in East Nusa Tenggara, followed by North Sulawesi with 4 hotspots, and East Kalimantan and Banten each with 3 and 2 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point in an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and it is not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective for monitoring forest and land fires over a large area.
