Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in North Nias Reached 6.73% in 2024

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of food inadequacy (Prevalence of Undernourishment/PoU) in North Nias Regency, North Sumatra reached 6.73% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 2.47% from 9.2% in the previous year, while over the last 5 years, it decreased by 0.07%.

Indonesia's average PoU was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in North Nias Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food insecurity and nutritional status.

This means that less than 6.73% of the total population in North Nias Regency consumes food but has insufficient energy intake.
