Barito Kuala Residents' Food Consumption Deficiency Rate Rises to 5.58% in 2025

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan reached 5.58% in 2025.

This figure increased by 0.22% from the previous year's 5.36%, while over the last 5 years it has risen by 1.33%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that the PoU in Barito Kuala Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to observe food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that the proportion of Barito Kuala Regency residents who consume food but do not meet their energy needs is less than 5.58% of the total population.

Compared to the other 12 regencies/cities in South Kalimantan Province, Barito Kuala Regency ranks 12th in terms of PoU. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Tanah Bumbu Regency (2.48%) and the highest (last rank) is Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency (6.16%).
