The Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Probolinggo Increased by 0.57% in the Last 5 Years

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Probolinggo Regency, East Java, reached 10.43% in 2023.

This figure is down 3.25% from the previous year's 13.68%, while it has increased by 0.57% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Probolinggo Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Probolinggo Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient does not reach 10.43% of the total population.
