Warning! Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again Tonight (Sunday, October 27, 2024)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 10:29 PM WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 23 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the visual eruption was not observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 7.4 millimeters and a duration of 593 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on October 27, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM WITA showed 1 eruption earthquake with an amplitude of 8.1 millimeters and a duration of 284 seconds.

Furthermore, there was 1 tremor earthquake with an amplitude of 2.9 millimeters and a duration of 19 seconds, and 1 harmonic tremor with an amplitude of 2.9 millimeters and a duration of 340 seconds.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to conduct any activities within a 3-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and Mount Lewotobi Perempuan, and 4 kilometers in the northeast sector and 5 kilometers in the northeast sector from the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.

During 2024, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 4,599 volcanic eruptions/eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Ibu in North Maluku had the most eruptions (1,871 eruptions), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 837 times.
