Warning! Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again Tonight (Tuesday, October 14, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Tuesday (10/14/2025) at 00:39 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 2 times.

Citing eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the ash column height was observed to be around 1,000 meters above the peak (2,584 meters above sea level).

The ash column was observed to be grey with thick intensity towards the southwest and west. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 10.5 millimeters and a duration of 248 seconds.

According to MAGMA Indonesia's volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Seismicity observations on October 14, 2025, at 18:00-23:59 WITA showed 3 rockfall earthquakes with amplitudes of 2.2-22.2 mm and durations of 38-60 seconds.

Subsequently, 3 emission earthquakes with amplitudes of 2.2-7.4 millimeters and durations of 32-38 seconds, and 2 non-harmonic tremors with amplitudes of 2.9-4.4 millimeters and durations of 84-93 seconds occurred.

PVMBG urges the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to engage in any activities within a 6-kilometer radius from the center of the Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki eruption.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 6,642 volcano eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,617 times) while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 697 times.
