The number of poor people in West Nusa Tenggara in June 2024 increased by 6,540 to 751,230 compared to September 2022. Compared to March 2022, the number of poor people also increased from 731,940.

However, this increase in the number of poor people did not impact the poverty rate, which actually decreased.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the poverty rate in West Nusa Tenggara reached 12.91 percent in 2024. This figure decreased by 0.94 percent compared to March 2023, which was recorded at 13.85 percent. Compared to September 2022, it decreased by 0.91 percent.

By region, the number of poor people decreased by 709,010 in March 2024 compared to March 2023 and was lower than in September 2022. The number of poor people in urban areas decreased by 14,990 to 368,540 in March 2024. The number of poor people in rural areas was recorded at 340,470.

Poverty conditions in West Nusa Tenggara are calculated based on the poverty line for food and non-food items, recorded at Rp. 459,830 per capita/month. According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), this latest poverty line is detailed as Rp. 374,440 per capita/month for food and Rp. 124,560 per capita/month for non-food items.

The poverty line for rural areas is Rp. 485,680 per capita/month; Rp. 366,990 per capita/month for food and Rp. 130,100 per capita/month for non-food items. Meanwhile, the poverty line in urban areas is Rp. 511,460 per capita/month; Rp. 381,360 per capita/month for food and Rp. 130,100 per capita/month for non-food items.
