Alert! Mount Semeru Erupts Again Tonight (Saturday, February 14, 2026)

Mount Semeru in East Java erupted again on Saturday (February 14, 2026) at 23:31 WIB. In the last week, Mount Semeru has erupted 44 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column observed is about None meters above the peak or None meters above sea level.

No eruption visuals were observed. The eruption was recorded on the seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 23 millimeters and a duration of 127 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Semeru is at Level III (Standby). Earthquake observations on February 14, 2026 from 12:00-18:00 WIB showed 23 eruption/explosion earthquakes with amplitudes of 10-22 millimeters and durations of 71-147 seconds.

Then, 1 collapse earthquake with an amplitude of 4 mm and duration of 40 seconds, as well as 2 distant tectonic earthquakes with amplitudes of 7-15 millimeters, s-p 14-16 seconds, and durations of 38-40 seconds.

PVMBG advises against any activities in the southeast sector along Besuk Kobokan, up to 13 kilometers from the peak (eruption center). Beyond that distance, residents should not carry out activities within 500 meters of the riverbank along Besuk Kobokan due to the potential for being affected by the expansion of hot clouds and lava flows up to 17 kilometers from the peak.

In 2026, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 602 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java has the most eruptions with 311 events.
