Warning! Mount Dukono Erupts Again Tonight (Friday, July 25, 2025)

Mount Dukono in North Maluku erupted again on Friday (July 25, 2025) at 11:00 PM WIT. In the last week, Mount Dukono has erupted 11 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column observed reached None meters above the peak or None meters above sea level.

Eruption visuals were not observed. The eruption of Mount Dukono was still ongoing when this report was made.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Dukono is at Level II (Alert). Seismicity observations on July 25, 2025, from 00:00-23:59 WIT showed 154 eruption/emission earthquakes with amplitudes of 6-34 millimeters and durations of 31.52-299.19 seconds.

Furthermore, 1 distant tectonic earthquake with an amplitude of 14 millimeters, an S-P time of 15.01 seconds, and a duration of 65.89 seconds occurred, along with 1 continuous tremor with an amplitude of 1-10 millimeters, predominantly 2 millimeters.

PVMBG urges the public around Mount Dukono and visitors/tourists not to engage in activities, climb, or approach Malupang Warirang Crater within a 4-kilometer radius.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 5,311 volcanic eruptions/emissions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,140 times) while Mount Dukono erupted 443 times.
