Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Thursday (30/5/2024) at 6:04 PM WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 7 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the visual eruption was not observed. The eruption was recorded on the seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 25.1 millimeters and a duration of 121 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level II (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on May 30, 2024, from 00.00 to 23.59 WITA showed 1 eruption earthquake with an amplitude of 31.8 millimeters and a duration of 172 seconds.

Furthermore, there were 4 puffing earthquakes with amplitudes of 4.4-14 millimeters and durations of 19-67 seconds, and 3 low-frequency earthquakes with amplitudes of 7.4-8.8 millimeters and durations of 25-89 seconds.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to conduct any activities within a 2-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and a sectoral 3-kilometer radius in the North-Northeast direction and a 5-kilometer radius in the Northeast sector.

During 2024, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 830 volcanic eruptions/eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (331 times), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 127 times.
