Ngawi Residents' Food Consumption Insufficiency Rate Decreased by 9.4% in 2024

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Ngawi Regency, East Java, reached 9.4% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 2.88% from the previous year's 12.28%, while over the last 5 years, it decreased by 2.06%.

Indonesia's average PoU was 8.27% in 2024, meaning Ngawi Regency's PoU was higher than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where an individual regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 9.4% of Ngawi Regency's population consumes food but has insufficient energy needs.
