KLHK Detects 1,253 Hotspots in Indonesia, Most in West Sumatra (Tuesday, November 4, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours shows that 1,253 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots increased by 421 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Tuesday (11/4/2025) at 11:53 AM WIB. Of the 1,253 detected hotspots, 52 points had a high confidence level, 1,134 points had a medium scale, and 67 points had a low scale.

The hotspot confidence level is divided into 3 scales. A low scale has a range of 0 - 29, a medium scale 30 - 79, and a high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of a forest and land fire occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots were in West Sumatra with 286 points. East Nusa Tenggara ranked second with 146 hotspots. Southeast Sulawesi was in third place with 118 hotspots.

A total of 96 hotspots were detected in East Kalimantan, followed by Maluku with 93 hotspots, and North Sumatra and West Nusa Tenggara each having 88 and 52 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature compared to its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of hotspots clustered in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective for monitoring forest and land fires over a wide area.
