Ministry of Environment and Forestry Finds 413 Hotspots in Indonesia, Most in Central Sulawesi (Tuesday, February 3, 2026)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours shows that 413 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 45 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Tuesday (February 3, 2026) at 11:15 AM WIB. Of the 413 detected hotspots, 9 points had a high hotspot confidence level, 375 points were at a medium scale, and 29 points were at a low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. The low scale ranges from 0 - 29, the medium scale from 30 - 79, and the high scale from 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a certain area.

The most detected hotspots were in Central Sulawesi with 82 points. Riau ranked second with the most hotspots with 71 points. West Kalimantan was in third position with 68 hotspots.

A total of 44 hotspots were detected in North Maluku, Aceh followed with 40 hotspots, and Riau Islands and South Sulawesi each had 28 and 17 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point in an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of hotspots clustered in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a wide area.
