Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Banjarmasin City Rose 0.9% in the Last Year

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan reached 4.42% in 2025.

This figure increased by 0.9% from the previous year's 3.52%, while in the last 5 years it rose by 2.92%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that Banjarmasin City's PoU is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that residents of Banjarmasin City who consume food but do not meet their energy needs account for less than 4.42% of the total population.
