Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Gayo Lues Increased by 1.43% in the Last 5 Years

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Gayo Lues Regency, Aceh, reached 9.18% in 2023.

This figure is up 0.91% from the previous year's 8.27%, and up 1.43% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Gayo Lues Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the percentage of residents in Gayo Lues Regency who consume food but lack sufficient energy intake does not reach 9.18% of the total population.

Compared to 22 other regencies/cities in Aceh Province, Gayo Lues Regency ranks 14th in terms of PoU. The area with the lowest PoU (highest ranking) is Nagan Raya Regency (3.43%), and the highest (lowest ranking) is Aceh Utara Regency (14.24%).
