Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in East Barito Decreased by 5.18% in the Last 5 Years

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in East Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan was 7.17% in 2025.

This figure decreased by 1.5% from the previous year's 8.67%, while in the last 5 years it has decreased by 5.18%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that the PoU in East Barito Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to observe food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that residents of East Barito Regency who consume food but do not meet their energy needs make up no more than 7.17% of the total population.

Compared to the other 13 regencies/cities in Central Kalimantan Province, East Barito Regency ranks 8th in terms of PoU. The regions with the lowest PoU (top ranks) are Gunung Mas Regency (4.46%) and the highest (last rank) is Kapuas Regency (15.41%).
