527 Hotspots Detected in Indonesia in the Last 24 Hours (Tuesday, January 20, 2026)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours showed 527 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 368 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Tuesday (January 20, 2026) at 11:02 AM WIB. Of the 527 detected hotspots, 14 points had a high hotspot confidence level, 509 points had a medium scale, and 4 points had a low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. The low scale ranges from 0 - 29, the medium scale from 30 - 79, and the high scale from 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots were in West Kalimantan, with 137 points. Central Kalimantan ranked second with 107 hotspots. Central Papua was in third place with 73 hotspots.

A total of 39 hotspots were detected in North Maluku, followed by East Kalimantan with 30 hotspots, and Central Sulawesi and Bangka Belitung Islands each having 23 and 22 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective for monitoring forest and land fires over large areas.
