KLHK: Hotspots in Indonesia Reach 1,522 in Last 24 Hours (Monday, September 22, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours shows that 1,522 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots increased by 191 points compared to the previous period.

This data is the result of satellite imaging from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA, accessed on Monday (9/22/2025) at 11:06 AM WIB. Of the 1,522 detected hotspots, 34 points have a high confidence level, 1,322 points are medium scale, and 166 points are low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale ranges from 0 - 29, medium scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots are in East Nusa Tenggara with 258 points. East Kalimantan ranks second with 160 hotspots. Central Sulawesi is in third place with 159 hotspots.

A total of 145 hotspots were detected in West Nusa Tenggara, followed by Aceh with 117 hotspots, and West Kalimantan and Southeast Sulawesi each having 108 and 106 detected hotspots, respectively.

Hotspots are coordinate points of an area that have a higher surface temperature compared to their surroundings, and do not represent the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of hotspots clustered in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a large area.
