India's Covid-19 Deaths Fall 5% in the Past Week

India still recorded the highest number of Covid-19 deaths in Asia in the last week. According to Worldometers data, the country recorded 27,456 new coronavirus deaths from May 21-27, 2021. However, this figure is down 5% compared to the previous week, which saw 29,015 deaths.

Iran and Turkey followed with 1,390 and 1,344 Covid-19 deaths respectively in the last week. Similar to India, both countries saw a decrease in weekly Covid-19 deaths, by 21% and 14% respectively.

Nepal also saw a 20% decrease in Covid-19 deaths, recording 1,104 deaths in the last seven days. Meanwhile, Indonesia recorded 1,020 Covid-19 deaths in the last week, a 13% decrease from the previous week.

To reduce the death toll, the spread of the coronavirus must be prevented as much as possible. Therefore, the public is urged to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
