Top 10 Regencies/Cities in Indonesia with the Highest Number of Covid-19 Deaths Nationwide (Friday, December 23, 2022)

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 80 regencies/cities with a Covid-19 death rate above the national average, currently recorded at 0.05 deaths per 100,000 population per week, data as of Friday, December 23, 2022.

The five regencies/cities with the highest Covid-19 death rates, exceeding 0.87 deaths per 100,000 population per week, are Belitung (1.56 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Sitaro (1.48 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Pariaman City (1.08 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Tomohon City (0.91 deaths per 100,000 population per week), and Belu (0.87 deaths per 100,000 population per week).

A national Covid-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows a decrease in Covid-19 deaths in most regencies/cities outside Java. Eight regencies/cities recorded higher daily Covid-19 death rates than previously, while eight others recorded lower rates.

Areas outside Java with the highest Covid-19 death rates include Belitung (1.56 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Sitaro (1.48 deaths per 100,000 population per week), and Pariaman City (1.08 deaths per 100,000 population per week).

Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
