Based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 83 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Friday, December 23, 2022, shows a national average of 16.84 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, subsequently reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest weekly percentage of people tested, are Balikpapan City (496.12%), Gunungsitoli City (317.01%), Garut (268.8%), Purwakarta (242.54%), and Klungkung (204.4%).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the weekly percentage of people tested is recorded at 496.12 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.44 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Gunungsitoli City. The region's population is recorded at 147,940. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of people tested is 317.01 percent. The positive rate in this region is 0.21 percent, also higher than the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Garut recorded 268.8 percent testing, Purwakarta, with a population of 960,820, recorded 242.54 percent weekly testing, and Klungkung, with a population of 181,440, recorded 204.4 percent weekly testing.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 129 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher weekly percentage of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 233 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly percentage of people tested compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly percentage of people tested include Balikpapan City, Gunungsitoli City, and Klungkung, with weekly percentages of 496.12 percent, 317.01 percent, and 204.4 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
