5,403 More COVID-19 Infections in Indonesia (Thursday, October 21, 2021)

The Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force recorded 5,403 confirmed Covid-19 cases among foreign nationals (WNA) in Indonesia until October 21, 2021. In addition, 716 foreign nationals were identified as close contacts of Covid-19 patients.

The Covid-19 Task Force also recorded 5,325 foreign national patients who tested negative or recovered. Furthermore, 413 foreign nationals returned to their home countries.

Meanwhile, 58 foreign nationals died; this includes 26 suspected deaths and 32 confirmed Covid-19 deaths.

The government issued a new circular regarding international travel during the pandemic, prohibiting foreign nationals from entering Indonesian territory starting October 14, 2021, to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This prohibition applies to both direct entry and transit through other countries for foreign national international travelers, except under certain conditions stipulated by the government.

The government continues to urge the public to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols such as wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. This is a step to curb the transmission of Covid-19 in Indonesia.
