The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 5.48 million cases by Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Based on GISAID data, Kazakhstan recorded the highest increase in Omicron cases, with 725 new cases. This represents 0.01 percent of the total global Omicron cases.
Following Kazakhstan is Saudi Arabia, with a weekly growth in Omicron cases of 17.15 percent, adding 280 new cases. Daily statistics show a 2.19 percent increase compared to the previous day's 274 cases.
Next, Cameroon saw a 13.39 percent increase in Omicron cases, reaching 576 cases compared to the previous week. Iceland saw a 9.15 percent increase, reaching 2,004 cases, and Finland reported 13,697 new Omicron cases (a 4.84% increase).
In Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 26,696, a 0.71 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since its initial detection, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has continued to rise.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges everyone to remain vigilant against the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is advised to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
