Anticipating the impact of the rising Omicron variant, 154 regencies/cities aggressively conducted COVID-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data as of Saturday, December 17, 2022, shows a national average of 146.18 tests per week.
The top five, ranked by the number of people tested per week, are Deli Serdang (995 people), Cimahi City (981 people), Batam City (940 people), Pasuruan (927 people), and Klaten (824 people).
Deli Serdang ranks first, with 995 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 4.22 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Next is Cimahi City, with a population of 610,490. In an effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, 981 people were tested per week. The positive rate is 15.6 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Batam City recorded 940 tests per week, Pasuruan 927, and Klaten 824.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national COVID-19 data, 184 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested per week than in the previous week. Meanwhile, 182 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of people tested per week include Deli Serdang, Batam City, and Bengkulu Utara, with 995, 940, and 777 people tested per week, respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
