The COVID-19 Handling Task Force recorded that the number of regencies/cities with mask-wearing compliance below 60% increased to 40 areas from October 4-10, 2021. The previous week, only 30 regencies/cities had low mask-wearing compliance.
Specifically, five regencies/cities had a 0% mask-wearing compliance rate. These were Bekasi Regency, Depok City, Kapuas Regency, East Seram Regency, and Tanjung Balai City.
Regencies/cities with mask-wearing compliance in the 61%-75% range increased to 32 areas. This is an increase of 6 areas from the previous week's 26 regencies/cities.
Meanwhile, regencies/cities with mask-wearing compliance in the 91-100% range decreased by two to 93 areas. Regencies/cities with mask-wearing compliance in the 76-90% range decreased by 15 to 203 areas.
The COVID-19 Handling Task Force monitored mask-wearing compliance among 7.89 million people across Indonesia during this period. 1.05 million points were monitored by officers, including airports, stations, malls, offices, schools, tourist attractions, places of worship, and restaurants/cafes.
Mask use, especially double-masking or N95 type masks, is crucial in preventing the spread of the coronavirus. In addition, the public is urged to maintain social distancing and wash their hands with soap.
