Average Length of Schooling for Mataram City Residents Increased to 9.89 Years

The average length of schooling (RLS) for residents aged 25 years and over in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara, reached 9.89 years in 2025.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the RLS of the residents in the region was above the average for West Nusa Tenggara Province, which reached 8.21 years in 2025.

The RLS of Mataram City residents increased by 0.31 years (3.24%) compared to the previous year, which was 9.58 years. Meanwhile, over the last five years, the RLS increased by 0.43 years (4.55%).

This RLS indicates that the average resident of Mataram City only attends school up to the ninth grade level. This RLS is better than the national average RLS of 9.07 years in 2025.

Compared to 9 other regencies/cities in West Nusa Tenggara Province, Mataram City's RLS is in 2nd position. Other regions in the province with the highest RLS are Bima City (10.97 years), while the lowest RLS is North Lombok Regency (6.75 years).
