Average Schooling Duration of Southwest Sumba Residents Rises to 6.47 Years

The average schooling duration (ASD) of residents aged 25 and over in Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara was 6.47 years in 2025.

Quoting data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the ASD of residents in this region was below the East Nusa Tenggara provincial average of 8.22 years in 2025.

The ASD of Southwest Sumba residents increased by 0.08 years (1.25%) compared to the previous year, which was 6.39 years. Meanwhile, over the last five years, the ASD has risen by 0.13 years (2.05%).

This ASD indicates that the average Southwest Sumba resident only attended school up to the 6th grade of elementary school. However, this ASD is still below the national average ASD of 9.07 years in 2025.

When compared to the other 21 regencies/cities in East Nusa Tenggara, Southwest Sumba's ASD ranks 22nd. The other region in the province with the highest ASD is Kupang City (11.66 years), while the lowest ASD is Southwest Sumba Regency (6.47 years).
