According to a Kurious survey from the Katadata Insight Center (KIC), Indonesian citizens planning to travel or go out of town frequently use online travel agent (OTA) services.
Of all OTA users surveyed, the majority, or 34.5%, chose these services because of numerous promotions or discounts.
Then, 28.7% of respondents chose OTAs because of their ease of use, and 11.9% because the prices were cheaper than buying tickets or accommodation directly.
Furthermore, 9.1% of respondents chose OTAs because they offer many products, 5.6% because OTAs have loyalty programs in the form of points or prize draws, 1.1% answered "other reasons," and 9.1% did not know/did not answer.
The Kurious survey also found that Traveloka was the most used OTA service among respondents, with a percentage of 63.1%. This was followed by Tiket.com and Pegipegi at 40.4% and 15.4%, respectively.
Kurious is a community-based survey platform. This survey on OTAs was conducted from November 28 to December 5, 2022, through web interviews with 715 respondents spread across Indonesia. The survey has a margin of error of 3.7% with a 95% confidence level.
