The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 2.15 million cases by Saturday, March 12, 2022. Tunisia recorded the highest increase in Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 800 percent. GISAID recorded nine new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 800 percent compared to the previous day.
Next is Brunei Darussalam, which recorded a 298.73 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily Omicron cases in this country increased by 298.73 percent compared to the previous day.
Furthermore, Omicron cases in American Samoa increased by 233.33 percent to 20 cases compared to the previous week. The Democratic Republic of Congo saw an increase of 105 Omicron cases (up 110%), and Slovakia saw a 78.71 percent increase in Omicron cases, reaching 6,110 compared to the previous week.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, as of today, there are 7,839 Omicron cases, a 2.89 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
